I just LOVE Christmas. It isn't about the presents for me. Its about the beauty of the season.
It begins with the decorations and the excitement I see through my grandchildren. I decorate
for them. I'll be honest with you, when my grown children left home, Christmas had lost the
excitement it once had. It wasn't that I had lost my love of Christ it was that I didn't have that
spirit of exuberance and celebration of something we consider so ordinary.
Aniya and Rylee have restored in me the wonder and joy of Christmas. I enjoy seeing them
running in the door going “Nana Nana Nana the lights are on! Can we go outside and see
them?” We do this every time I see them. It never gets old. They wind up dancing musical
Christmas toys and dance to Christmas music. We go to every free event that I can think of.
It isn't for them really...its for me. I get to have some partners in the oohing and aahing of
the things I consider so wonderful. A hay ride singing Christmas carols, running around the
front yard in the lights to see them shining on our clothes and tripping when I forget that there
is a string attached to something I forgot about. This brings us so much laughter. Laughter that
I so enjoy! All these things are free. I couldn't purchase this with any amount of money. It is so
much fun!! We also get to drive around and see Christmas lights. I LOVE that they
have taken on my annoying habit of the oohing and aahing. My legacy will continue. YES!
Businesses dress up their windows and offices to a mode of celebration also. Beautiful wreaths
with red bows and flowers, poinsettias, Christmas trees with white or colored lights.
All this takes so much time and effort to join in the team effort of celebration! Parades,
Santa Claus, baking cookies, special dishes reserved just for Christmas, Christmas cards,
Christmas cantatas, serving at a homeless shelter, serving at a church that makes Christmas
for families that wouldn't have presents or a meal if it wasn't for their generosity.
All this is supposed to be for joy. And...when I see all of this I can't forget it. These beautiful
acts of love and kindness, they remind me.
One thing though, all this wouldn't have happened, wouldn't have been needed if on one cold
wintry night in Bethlehem a baby boy Jesus hadn't been born. He was born to save us.
He brought us the gift of heaven. Wow...he was just born to die.
He wanted to save us so that we, YOU AND ME could be in heaven just by receiving a free gift.
There is a catch though. To get to heaven you HAVE to receive the gift. You have to take it.
Just like opening a gift you must take it and receive it.
All you have to do is :Acknowledge that Jesus is the son of God
Believe He came for all sinners (that means you and that includes me)
Confess that you have sinned.
Just say a simple prayer of thanks and you begin your beautiful journey with Christ.
THIS IS MY GREATEST JOY. I WANT ETERNITY FOR ALL OF YOU!
PLEASE JOIN ME IN HEAVEN ONE DAY. IT SURE IS BETTER THAN THE
ALTERNATIVE DON'T YOU THINK? MERRY CHRISTMAS
